Imagine a World of Peace – Alternate Headlines

It shows headlines of people that made a difference while they were alive and arguably even more of a difference after their deaths. Imagine what more they could have achieved if they weren’t taken so soon.

The headlines are alternative ones, the kind that might have happened.

Martin Luther King Jr. aged 84, Champions Immigration Reform.

Martin Luther King Jr. was an American pastor, activist and humanitarian. In October 1964 he received the Nobel Peace Prize for fighting racial inequality through nonviolence means.  Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis Tennessee.

Anne Frank wins Nobel Prize for her 12th novel

Anneliese “Anne” Marie Frank was a young Jewish girl during World War II, she was born in Frankfurt in Waimea Germany and moved to Amsterdam when she was 4. As the Germans took control of the Netherlands and increased the persecutions of the Jewish population the Frank family went into hiding. After two years they were caught and taken to concentration camps where Anne died of typhus. Otto Frank the only remaining survivor of the Frank family returned to Amsterdam after the war where he found Anne Frank’s diary and later published it in 1947.

Harvey Milk expands LGBT equality globally

Harvey Bernard Milk was the first openly gay person to be elected in America.

Daniel Pearl, 49, Journalist, wins Pulitzer for “Uncovering Al Qaeda”

Daniel Pearl was an American journalist that was kidnapped in January 2002 by Pakistani militants and later murdered by Al Qaeda.

James Byrd, Jr, 63 Jasper, TX Resident Saves Young Girl from Burning Building

James Byrd Jr was murdered in June 1998 by three men, at least to were white supremacist.  They dragged James 3 miles down the road behind a pickup, he remained conscious for most of the ordeal until his body hit the edge of a culvert which severed his right arm and head. The murderers continued to drive for another mile until dumping his torso in front of and African American Cemetery in Jasper.

Matthew Shepard, 36, Leads Anti-Bullying Coalition

On October 6 1998 Matthew Wayne Shepherd was beaten and tortured and left to die near Laramie, Wyoming. Matthew died six days later on October 12 from severe head injuries. Shepherd’s murder brought attention to hate crime nationally and internationally and later resulted in new legislation. In October 2009, the United States Congress passed the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr Hate Crimes Prevention Act, and on October 28, 2009 President back Obama signed the legislation into law.

Yitzhak Rabin, 90, honoured for nearly 2 decades of Israeli – Palestinian Peace

Yitzhak Rabin was an Israeli politician, statesman and general. The Prime Minister of Israel in the 1970s and elected again in 1992 until he was assassinated in 1995. In 1994, Robin won the Nobel Peace Prize together with Simon Perers and Yasser Arafat.

These are all people that made a massive difference not only during their lives but as a result of their tragic endings.
