Life’s journey is filled with unexpected twists and turns. I’ve faced the seemingly insurmountable challenges of a broken neck, quadriplegia, bankruptcy, and heartbreak. Yet through it all, I’ve learned how to move on. Here’s my story and the lessons I’ve learned.
After a swimming accident left me with a broken neck and quadriplegia, I was diagnosed with autonomic dysreflexia, a life-threatening condition that can cause a stroke or worse without warning. It’s a constant reminder of the fragility of life and the necessity to adapt.
In the face of constant physical pain and the loss of privacy, a guiding principle emerged: “This shall pass.”

Emotional pain from betrayals in relationships and financial ruin hit hard. But I learned how to move on by embracing the waves, finding solace in healthy coping mechanisms like meditation and mindfulness.

Taking life one breath at a time, focusing on the present moment, has been crucial in learning how to move on from each challenge. Ground yourself, recognize that this moment is not permanent, and guide your thoughts toward healing.
